Historic Marker Day Invites Community to Help Preserve Orange’s History
Residents in the City of Orange can take part in a hands-on preservation effort as the Old Towne Preservation Association teams up with the Orange Community Historical Society to celebrate National Historic Marker Day.
The event invites volunteers of all ages to help clean and care for historic markers throughout Old Towne, bringing attention to the stories and landmarks that shape the city’s identity. Participants will also be able to take part in demonstrations, learn proper preservation techniques, and enjoy interactive activities like scavenger hunts, making it both educational and community-driven.
Events like this are part of a nationwide effort to maintain historic markers and keep local history visible and accessible for future generations. By working together, residents can play a direct role in preserving the small details that tell the story of Orange’s past.
For Orange locals, it’s a chance to give back, learn something new, and spend a morning outdoors connecting with the community while helping protect the city’s historic character.
The Historic Marker Day event takes place Friday, April 24 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in Old Towne Orange, with activities centered around the Plaza area.
