Disney History Talk Explores the Origins of the Enchanted Tiki Room in Orange

Disney fans and history lovers in the City of Orange can step behind the scenes of a classic attraction at “Before the Birds Sang Words: The Story of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room,” a special presentation at the Hilbert Museum of California Art.

The event features Ken Bruce, a two-time Emmy Award-winning animation artist and author, who will take attendees through the creation of Disneyland’s iconic Enchanted Tiki Room. Known as one of the first attractions to use Audio-Animatronics, the Tiki Room has been entertaining guests for more than 60 years with its musical storytelling and groundbreaking technology.

The presentation offers a deep dive into how the attraction came to life, blending art, engineering, and imagination to create one of Disney’s most memorable experiences. For fans of Disneyland and themed entertainment, it’s a rare opportunity to hear directly from an expert with deep knowledge of the creative process behind the attraction.

For Orange residents, the event brings a piece of Disneyland history into Old Towne, offering a unique mix of storytelling, nostalgia, and insight into one of Southern California’s most beloved cultural icons.

The event takes place Friday, April 24 at 6 PM at the Hilbert Museum of California Art, located at 167 North Atchison St. in Old Towne Orange.
