A Beloved Old Towne Tradition Pauses for January at Dragonfly Shops & Gardens

For many families in Old Towne Orange, Dragonfly Shops & Gardens has long been a place where creativity, imagination, and community come together — especially during its popular first-Saturday workshops for children.

Each month, the shop welcomes kids and their friends to create enchanting miniature gardens, guided by storytelling, hands-on crafting, and a little bit of fairy magic. The workshops have become a favorite for families looking for something playful and creative to do together, often filling up quickly due to their popularity. Classes are typically offered for a set fee, with private parties also available by request.

Located at 260 North Glassell Street, Dragonfly Shops & Gardens has been part of the Old Towne landscape for nearly two decades, operating out of a house that is now more than 100 years old. That history is part of what gives the shop its charm — and also the reason for an important pause.

The shop will be closed for the month of January, reopening on February 1, 2026. The closure allows time to address long-needed maintenance, care for the historic building, and complete a thorough cleanup. During this time, all workshops will be on pause, with programming set to resume in February.

While January may feel a little quieter without the familiar activity at Dragonfly, the pause reflects a commitment to preserving a space that has brought joy to the community for years. Families can look forward to the return of workshops and gatherings in February — refreshed, restored, and ready for another year of creativity in Old Towne.
