Orange Unified Schools Among 45 OC Campuses Honored as California Distinguished Schools

The California Department of Education has named 45 Orange County elementary schools as 2025 California Distinguished Schools, one of the state’s most respected recognitions for academic excellence. Among the honorees are Nohl Canyon Elementary and Taft Elementary from the Orange Unified School District, highlighting their success in student achievement and efforts to close learning gaps.

The distinction celebrates campuses that have demonstrated high academic performance, strong attendance, and effective programs promoting equity and student well-being. Orange County schools represent roughly 13 percent of the statewide total, underscoring the region’s leadership in educational innovation and collaboration between teachers, families, and local communities.

All recognized campuses will be honored during a statewide ceremony on May 30 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, commemorating their contributions to academic excellence across California.
