A Monthly Tradition of Honor: Orange Plaza Patriots Flag-Lowering Ceremony

A meaningful tradition continues in the heart of Old Towne Orange as the Orange Plaza Patriots invite the community to gather for their monthly flag-lowering ceremony, now held on the third Thursday of every month.

The ceremony offers residents a chance to come together in a moment of reflection, patriotism, and community connection. Attendees can expect to hear from veterans and guest speakers, learn about veteran outreach programs and volunteer opportunities, and listen to personal stories that highlight the experiences and service of those who have worn the uniform.

In addition to honoring veterans, the gathering also focuses on the history of the American flag and patriotic holidays, helping attendees better understand the traditions and values behind the ceremony. The event concludes with the community respectfully joining together to sing the National Anthem and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

The upcoming ceremony on December 18 will hold special significance, recognizing the birthday of the U.S. Space Force and commemorating Pearl Harbor Day. Organizers say the evening will offer an opportunity not only to honor military service across generations, but also to reflect on moments in history that continue to shape the nation.

Open to the public, the monthly flag-lowering ceremony provides a space for remembrance, education, and unity in Old Towne. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend, listen, and take part in a tradition rooted in respect and community pride.
