Old Towne Orange Commuters Weigh the Pros and Cons of Paid Parking

Nearly six months after paid parking was introduced in Old Towne Orange, residents, commuters, and business patrons are continuing to share mixed opinions about the program. While some visitors say they appreciate the improved parking availability and shorter search for open spaces, others believe the added cost has changed their habits, leading them to visit less often or seek free parking farther from the Plaza.

Supporters of the program argue that increased turnover has made it easier for customers to find parking near restaurants and shops, helping improve access to local businesses during busy hours. Others, however, have raised concerns about the expense for employees, frequent visitors, and those who feel the fees discourage people from spending time in Old Towne. As the City of Orange continues evaluating the program, feedback from the community is expected to play an important role in determining whether adjustments are made in the future.
