Naranjita Flamenco Workshop Explores the Connection Between Singing and Dance

Flamenco singers and dancers can deepen their understanding of the art form during Cante Para Baile, a special workshop coming to Naranjita Flamenco in Orange.

The workshop brings together acclaimed flamenco singer Marián Fernández and celebrated dancer Lakshmi Basile “La Chimi” to explore the essential relationship between cante, or flamenco singing, and baile, or flamenco dance. Participants will learn how the two disciplines interact and influence one another during a performance.

Designed for both singers and dancers, the workshop will help singers better understand how to accompany dancers while giving dancers an opportunity to improve how they listen and respond to the cante. The session offers participants a chance to strengthen their skills while developing a deeper appreciation for the collaborative nature of flamenco.

For Orange’s local dance and performing arts community, Cante Para Baile offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from two experienced flamenco artists while exploring an important element of the tradition.

Cante Para Baile takes place Saturday, September 12 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Naranjita Flamenco, located at 301 E. Katella Ave. in Orange.
