OCDE Names 12 “Impact Schools” Across Orange County to Foster Innovation

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) has named twelve campuses as the first-ever Orange County Impact Schools, celebrating their innovative teaching practices and commitment to student success. The program, launched to encourage collaboration among educators, focuses on identifying strategies that can be shared and scaled countywide.

Rather than serving as a competition, the initiative functions as a professional exchange. Teams from OCDE will visit each selected campus throughout the year to observe classrooms, learn from educators, and document best practices that demonstrate measurable impact. Superintendent Dr. Stefan Bean praised the schools for “leading with creativity, collaboration, and heart,” highlighting their role in transforming student learning and strengthening communities.

The inaugural group of Impact Schools includes a cross-section of elementary, middle, high, and charter campuses such as Portola Middle School in the Orange Unified School District, Magnolia High School, Samueli Academy, Legacy Magnet Academy, and Sunburst Youth Academy. Each will receive formal recognition and participate in OCDE’s efforts to expand innovative education across the region.
